The Woodland Elementary School in Milford was extended to accommodate 980 students, up from 600 previously. The original school was demolished to make room for a larger school on the same site, complete with modern circulation and parking facilities. HSH provided transportation planning and traffic engineering consulting services to aid in this endeavor.
Internal traffic flow, pedestrian and bicycle protection, and bus and parent pick-up and drop-off were all areas where HSH provided site design assistance. Based on current patterns at the established school, the initiative included a study of potential bus and student pick-up/drop-off operation.
