As compared to similar students in the state, students at this school are making average academic progress considering where they were last year. Parent tip One of the most important ways that the best schools help all students succeed is by giving them a voice and allowing them to make choices.
It’s worth taking a closer look at: This school’s test results are around the same as the state average, but they are far behind the state’s top-performing colleges. Many students at this school may not be performing at grade level due to low test scores in some states. Parental advice Inquire about the school’s efforts to assist students who are falling behind. Understand what on-track learning entails, and inquire about what the school is doing to help students make faster progress.
A concerning sign: Disadvantaged students at this school may be slipping behind their peers in the state, and there may be major achievement gaps at this school. Does this school have opportunities for all of its pupils, or does it exclude some? Schools that are effective know how to close the achievement gap.
We at William James College’s INTERFACE Referral Service are acutely aware of the scarcity of black mental health services and the ethnic disparities that remain in medical and mental health treatment. Other services and academic offerings at the College, such as the Black Mental Health Academy and the Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health, are helping to reverse this pattern. We invite you to read a message from our Black Mental Health Graduate Academy Scholars and join us as allies in the fight to end institutional injustice by standing with us as allies.
The Woburn Public Schools, in collaboration with the government, families, and students, provide a stable, secure, and nurturing atmosphere in which all students are given the educational opportunity to succeed at high levels, allowing them to develop both the academic and social skills required for success in higher education, their careers, and in the community at large.
