It’s worth taking a closer look at: This school’s test results are around the same as the state average, but they are far behind the state’s top-performing colleges. Many students at this school may not be performing at grade level due to low test scores in some states. Parental advice Inquire about the school’s efforts to assist students who are falling behind. Understand what on-track learning entails, and inquire about what the school is doing to help students make faster progress.
A concerning sign: Disadvantaged students at this school may be slipping behind their peers in the state, and there may be major achievement gaps at this school. We at William James College’s INTERFACE Referral Service are acutely aware of the scarcity of black mental health services and the ethnic disparities that remain in medical and mental health treatment. Other services and academic offerings at the College, such as the Black Mental Health Academy and the Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health, are helping to reverse this pattern. We invite you to read a message from our Black Mental Health Graduate Academy Scholars and join us as allies in the fight to end institutional injustice by standing with us as allies.
The Woburn Public Schools, in collaboration with the government, families, and students, provide a stable, secure, and nurturing atmosphere in which all students are given the educational opportunity to succeed at high levels, allowing them to develop both the academic and social skills required for success in higher education, their careers, and in the community at large.
