Man finds gold mine on property, steps in it and realized
WESTMINSTER, MASSACHUSETTS (CBSNewYork) – Alex Wiktorski agreed to take action after more than two years of contemplation. Alex established Wildwood Cordwood in August with the aim of putting the customer first in any transaction.
Alex had only been running Wildwood Cordwood for 412 months when we talked with him in mid-December. This year, he planned to process as many as 600 cords. And by bringing his firewood processor to customers’ woodlots and producing firewood where trees were felled, he had already carved out a mobile niche for himself.
Alex needed a firewood processor that he could work hard and switch from place to place to get Wildwood Cordwood off to a good start. He did a lot of studying. He also took into account his own experiences breaking firewood for his own use, both manually and with processors. (Alex resides in a 1778 farm house.) The house is heated by an outdoor wood boiler, which uses around 40 cords of wood a year.)
Alex chose a Woodbine Rapido Loco 20 firewood processor from CRD Metalworks in Williamsburg, Massachusetts in the end. He explained, “I went out [to CRD].” “I had a meeting with Patrick Davis. We hit it off right away and had a fantastic relationship.” CRD’s director of operations is Patrick.

Without apples, it wouldn’t be fall! Come visit Scott Farm, which was made popular by the film The Ciderhouse Rules. This 571-acre farm, preserved by The Landmark Trust USA, features PYO areas, ponds, picnic tables, and a farmstand with heirloom apples and fresh pressed cider. Have you ever tried the Blue Permain apple, which was Thoreau’s favorite? Have you tried a Medlar before? In addition to peaches, pears, quince, and plums, Scott Farm Orchard offers a variety of unusual fruits. From Labor Day to the end of November, the Market is free.
Season: Raspberries begin in early July; open days are subject to change; check the website before visiting. The orchards are open every day except Mondays during apple harvest season. On days of service, the hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Also available at the Connecticut Valley Orchard are traditional New England apple varieties such as McIntosh, Cortland, and Macouns, as well as some newer varieties such as Honey Crisp. The orchard is also working to restore some of the heirloom varieties that were once grown there, such as Esopus Spitzenberg and Roxbury Russet.
