The Charles R. Wilber School (also known as Sharon High School) is a historic school building in Sharon, Massachusetts, located at 75-85 South Main Street. The large two-story brick Colonial and Classical Revival structure, which faces Sharon Town Hall, was built in 1921-22 and expanded in 1928–29. The Charles R. Wilber School was built as an elementary school in the older section of the complex, which is now the south building. The north wing and shaft of the T-shaped structure were added in 1928 in order to turn the structure to a high school. The structure was used as Sharon’s high school until 1957, when it was changed to an intermediate school. The building received a new wing in 2009, which was converted to residential use. [two]

Video tour – the wilber school apartments
In Sharon, Massachusetts, a vintage 1920s school has been restored and combined with complementary modern structures to create a 105,000-square-foot apartment complex with 75 affordable and market-rate residences. Beacon Societies L.L.C., Frontier Companies, and architect Prellwitz Chilinski Associates (PCA) Inc. are also competing for LEED certification with the Wilber School Apartments.
The Charles R. Wilber house, which was built in 1922 in downtown Sharon and was named after the town’s only native son who died in World War I, served as a secondary school, high school, and municipal facility until closing in 1981. It sat empty until 2006, when construction partners Beacon and Frontier earned approval for a residential renovation with the help of a PCA design that merged historic preservation and sustainable design.
The project is designed to appeal to a wide range of income levels. Fifteen apartments are designated as affordable housing for households earning up to 50% of the area median income; three of the fifteen apartments are designated as workforce housing for households earning up to 100% of the area median income; and seven apartments are designated as workforce housing for households earning up to 100% of the area median income.
