Around kansas – white castle burgers, first fast-food
BosterCastle56 reviewsReviewed by BosterCastle56 on December 11, 2018 Be careful, Johnny! With a working jukebox, this is a great old school retro meal. It gives you 8 tracks for a buck, but it also throws some random tracks at you.
Review by johnbB7366IW11 on December 5, 2018 Excellent cuisine. Excellent food, service, and beverages. It’s a small dive bar that’s well worth a visit. Travelers will find it a little off the beaten path, but it is well worth the journey. We live 30 minutes away and return once every two weeks. The visit took place in December of 2018. Review by theThanos1974204 on November 11, 2018 via mobile To my stomach, it’s delicious. This is a really retro diner. Excellent service and excellent food. At each table, there are mini jukeboxes. There is also a drive-through window for quicker operation. Helpful? Date of visit: February 2018
Review by LAstuckinKS111 on February 4, 2018 Burgers with the perfect amount of grease New cut fries and tasty greasy hamburgers. Amazing taco burgers, like a double chili cheeseburger with bacon, which is my personal preference (messy but to die for). I really enjoy the jukeboxes at each table. Helpful? The very first dairy queen / where soft serve ice cream
What was the world’s first fast food hamburger chain, and where did it start? If you said White Castle in Wichita, you are right. A man from rural Kansas founded this revolutionary business. Today’s Kansas Profile is here.
Walt Anderson was a big fan of tinkering in the kitchen. Legend has it that he crushed one of his meatballs with a spatula because he was annoyed with how they were sticking to the griddle. The flat patty was born as a result of this.
Starting with a mound of fresh beef, pushing it into a flat square, and poking five well-placed holes in the meat, Anderson discovered that he could cook the burger thoroughly without having to turn it. He also discovered that grilling the patty on a bed of chopped onions with the bun on top allowed all of the flavors to penetrate the bun.
He decided to open more locations because his hamburgers were so famous. He enlisted the help of Billy Ingram, a real estate agent. As the two men became acquainted, they agreed to open a hamburger restaurant together.
