In early 2003, the hall was fully rebuilt. The Stadtweinhaus (City Wine House), which stood north of the Town Hall and was erected in 1615 by Johann von Bocholt, housed the city scales and the city council’s monopoly on wine supply.

The New City Hall (Neues Rathaus) on Marienplatz is one of Munich’s most impressive structures, with spectacular views of the city from its tower. In addition, the world-famous glockenspiel draws large crowds every day.
A well-known event that should not be missed: The glockenspiel in the city hall’s tower attracts large crowds at Marienplatz every day at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., as well as at 5 p.m. from March to Oktober.
Please keep in mind:
The City Hall tower is now closed due to the corona pandemic. The City Hall tower, which provides an excellent view of Munich’s old town, is accessible all year for a small entrance fee. You don’t have to climb any stairs to get there, unlike the tower of St. Peter’s church (Alter Peter), which is just a few meters away. The 85-meter-high tower’s viewing platform is reached through two elevators. Shrove Tuesday, January 1, Shrove Tuesday, January 6, Shrove Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday Tuesday, May 1st, November 1st, December 25th, and December 26th.
The New City Hall’s balcony is unquestionably Munich’s most prominent, thanks in large part to FC Bayern Munich. The superstars of Germany’s record soccer champions celebrate their victories here, and they’ve had a lot of them in recent years, including the legendary “treble” sweep of the German League, German Cup, and Champions League in 2013. Thousands of fans throng Marienplatz to cheer on the boys, and the players are known to belt out a few football classics.

Use place=town to refer to a significant urban center that is larger than a village, smaller than a community, and not a suburb. People from surrounding villages frequent towns because they have a diverse selection of shops and services.
The most popular way to map towns is to put a node in the middle. Some mappers, on the other hand, prefer to map towns using a region rather than a node. Towns, on the other hand, often lack a verifiable outline, and various conceptions of the context of areas representing populated places exist – see the place key page for more details. This method also discards data on the town center, which is crucial for data users, particularly for routing. The region geometries of towns should not be expected to have any specific significance for data users.
In the past, a “city” in England (where the settlement tags originated) had a public market (amenity=marketplace). While this is no longer the primary distinguishing feature, most place=towns have more shops and facilities than smaller settlements like place=village. When the population of the settled area is known, adding the tag population=* can be useful.
