The Glover Building was built in 1894 as a physical education building. Mrs. Sarah White Glover, then 87 years old, inherited the White family fortune in 1891. Unfortunately, she would die a year later. She had discussed how best to invest her money for educational purposes with Judge French, President of the Board of Trustees, prior to her death. French suggested she offer to Thayer Academy, which was in dire need of a gymnasium.
Classrooms and LaboratoriesGlover complied and left the school with the requisite funds. The building was designed by Boston architects Hartwell and Richardson, who described it as a picturesque brick construction. A boys’ gymnasium was on one side of the building, and a girls’ gymnasium was on the other. Chemistry laboratories were situated in the center of the structure. The gyms’ equipment was partially funded by Dr. Sargent of the Sargent School. Dr. Charles Pitkin was in charge of the chemistry labs. Sarah’s siblings Deborah P. White and Naaman L. White were honored with gymnasiums, while Sarah’s late husband was honored with laboratories. Following the completion of the Memorial Gymnasium, the White Gymnasiums were turned into more science classrooms and laboratories.

1) I’m already here for Richins’ play rehearsal at 10:00 p.m., and I’m freezing my arse off. 2) I just turned my friend’s bag inside out because I have nothing else to do, my water bottle is my best friend, my collar is so straight up I can touch it with my tongue, and my furry snow boots are my best friend from November to April, I would ponder the sexual orientation of most of the students. anonymous 27.06.2004 27.06.2004 27.06.2004 27.06.2004 27.06.

Thayer Academy is a private school located in Thayer,
South of Boston, one of the finest private colleges. They don’t judge people based on how much money they have or where they come from, unlike other “elite” private schools. This is, without a doubt, the best school I’ve ever attended (and I’m not even a sixth-grader). Although sports are important, and we leave at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for game travel, the arts are also an important part of the curriculum. Every year, 90% of students participate in some way. Any student who has ever said they despise it has begged to return two months after graduation. Although there are some students who are arrogant and rude, they are the exceptions. Thayer Academy’s students and staff are both warm and accepting. I could not have picked a better high school for myself. Yeah, and why are there so many 2005 posts? Thayer Academy has its flaws, but it is still a better school than any other south of Boston. The majority of the children are snobbish and prejudged. They have made fun of me for not being a Christian on several occasions. They’ve even been known to use ethnic slurs. For example, they referred to all Asians as “Goks.” As an Asian, I found this to be highly offensive. Aside from the students, the teachers can be arrogant and unqualified for their work.
Divide the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers to get the student/teacher ratio. Please bear in mind that a lower student-to-teacher ratio does not always mean a smaller class size. Schools occasionally employ part-time teachers, and some teachers are hired for specialized teaching with limited class sizes. The student-to-teacher ratio is determined by these and other factors. Pre-Kindergarten may not be included of the student/teacher ratio in private schools.

In January of 1876, construction on the Thayer Academy Schoolhouse began. The school’s Board of Trustees organized an architectural competition to choose the winning design. The competition was won by Hartwell and Swazey, and their design for the schoolhouse was chosen. The exterior of the school was finished by November, and the Academy was able to receive its first class in August of 1877.
The building included gas lighting, steam heating, modern plumbing, and ventilation systems, and concrete was poured between the walls and floors to prevent sound transmission and fire spread. Thayer Academy’s first class consisted of 26 students, one of whom was Asa French’s son.
