This is the most difficult page turner I’ve ever encountered. Every other page blew my mind, and each essay builds on the previous ones so that by the time you get to the end, you have a good idea of what he’s talking about. I wasn’t sure I got the biology part of his essay about reduplicated limbs in beetles and amphibians, but he got the point across. This book has piqued my interest in cybernetics and systems theory; however, I believe a second reading is essential to fully grasp the concepts.

When it arrived, I ended up re-reading it from beginning to end, re-discovering the joy I felt when I first read it all those years ago. You’re never too old! Needless to say, I kept this book and purchased a second copy as a present!
This is a landmark work in the development of ecological theories and the foundations of sustainability. Some parts may not be applicable to all readers, but the ones that do are essential.
