“Through the Office of Residence Life and Housing, Bridgewater College aims to provide healthy, clean, comfortable, and conducive to student learning resident undergraduate housing. Our students thrive in living-learning environments that value diversity, respect for human rights, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.”
Bridgewater has remained relentless in its determination to inspire individuals and instill a deep respect for promoting the public good in its students and faculty since its establishment in 1840. These missions are fundamental to who we were and who we are now. Our strategic vision and subsequent goals are built on top of this cornerstone, and our university leaders have the foresight, expertise, and civic knowledge to help us get there.
Bridgewater State University, which began as a single room in the Town Hall basement in 1840, has expanded to include 38 buildings on 278 acres, serving 11,500 undergraduate and graduate students and boasting more than 50,000 alumni. Bridgewater State University is proud of its 20:1 student-to-faculty ratio, average class size of 22, and more than 95 student clubs and organizations. We also have our own T stop and a 100% wireless campus. We are the eighth largest 4-year college or university in Massachusetts, with 92 percent of our full-time faculty holding doctorate or other terminal degrees, and we awarded 2,270 degrees in 2012, which was fourth among all Massachusetts public institutions.
