I was diagnosed with IR and dyslexia this year, and it’s been a challenge but well worth it. Overall, the faculty and teachers are excellent. Sure, there are some edgy aspects to this school, but isn’t that true of all schools? Notice that bullying is a problem in this area.
The new building is fantastic, a huge improvement over the previous slum that the students had to experience. The next move is to raise educational standards. Slow progress is being made in a few places for a few grades. However, when it comes to education, Rockland continues to rank near the bottom of the state. The issue has been residents’ unwillingness to support adequately funding education, which is not surprising considering residents’ lack of understanding that healthy, successful schools are what draw people to a town and help property values. Some people seem to think that bars, gun shops, and liquor stores are more relevant than children’s education, which is very sad. The good news is that a new population is arriving, and they are likely to be more concerned about education than the old guard.
