Rensselaer polytechnic institute transfer
Rensselaer polytechnic institute online
I am a non-traditional, older student currently pursuing an associate’s degree in engineering at a community college; I should be completing my associate’s degree in a few weeks and am hoping to move to a better program to pursue my studies and earn at least an undergraduate degree.
As a Fall 2018 transfer student, I applied to RPI and was admitted. Unfortunately, the tuition is out of my financial reach, so I inquired for financial assistance. They’ve given me a leadership award worth $19,000, but my responsibilities will still be excessively big for me.
When I contacted Financial Aid, they also forwarded me an email that directed me to a page on RPI’s website that appeared to indicate that all deadlines for applying for additional financial aid had already expired, long before I received my acceptance notification. Is this to say that applying for further help at this stage will be a complete waste of time? I read somewhere else on this board that transfer students usually receive unfavorable assistance packages, so I’m double-checking.

I’m nearing the end of my college list, and I’m debating if RPI is worth the $70 or whether I should cross it off. While I did not apply for the fee waiver, my family may not want to spend too much money on application fees because I already have schools of comparable caliber such as Stony Brook and Drexel. Where does RPI rank among the top 20 universities, such as MIT, Cornell, Cal Tech, and others? There are 15 comments. 62 percent sharesavehidereport Voted up This discussion has been closed.
