Divide the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers to get the student/teacher ratio. Please keep in mind that a lower student-to-teacher ratio does not always imply a smaller class size. Schools occasionally employ part-time teachers, and some teachers are hired for specialized teaching with limited class sizes. The student-to-teacher ratio is influenced by these and other factors. Pre-Kindergarten may not be included in the student/teacher ratio in private schools.

PVES (Playa Vista Elementary School) is a truly outstanding school. High achievement for all through a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education is our mission, which we pursue in collaboration with our community and Loyola Marymount University.
PVES is a LEED School (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Our campus has LEED elements ranging from an educational garden to recycled concrete used in the building of our school. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade receive ten hours of LEED-related training as a Platinum LEED school.
We are Loyola Marymount University’s STEM Demonstration School. Pre-service teachers come to us for a university course as well as to fulfill their student teaching requirements. They will learn best practices in lesson integration and STEM education when they are here. Our students profit from this collaboration by engaging in a creative curriculum built in collaboration with LMU, having teachers who are at the forefront of student-centered pedagogy, and having a lower student-to-teacher ratio in the classroom.
