The movement of electrons or the sharing of electrons are two ways that atoms will bond. Atoms that exchange electrons form covalent bonds, whereas those that pass electrons form ionic bonds. This experiment would use a conductivity apparatus to see whether a substance conducts electricity. The lamp will light up when the electrodes of the conductivity apparatus are put in a material that conducts electricity. This happens because electricity passes through the material from one electrode to the other, completing the circuit and lighting the lamp.
