The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued recommendations for school reopenings. The Palmer Public School District is implementing three learning plan options based on this guidance for the 2020-2021 school year. Please read through and choice and choose the learning plan for your child that you are most comfortable with (ren).
Students can attend school in person four days a week and engage in online learning one day a week. Both health and safety procedures will be followed while in person. One day a week, a strict remote learning schedule will be followed. This initiative would enable the school buildings to be cleaned and sanitized throughout the week so that staff and students can learn in a healthy and secure atmosphere.
Plan for Remote Learning: Students can engage in full-time remote learning. All students will have access to online learning experiences, live/asynchronous lessons with instructors, and instructor reviews. In the same way as in-person learning is assessed, attendance will be reported and student work would be graded. In this scheme, parents play an important role in their children’s education.

Divide the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers to get the student/teacher ratio. Please keep in mind that a lower student-to-teacher ratio does not always imply a smaller class size. Schools occasionally employ part-time teachers, and some teachers are hired for specialized teaching with limited class sizes. The student-to-teacher ratio is influenced by these and other factors. Pre-Kindergarten may not be included of the student/teacher ratio in private schools.
