The foundations of French grammar are covered in FREN 101. Students are taught how to pronounce words correctly, develop a limited working vocabulary that they can use in conversation and writing, and read basic French.
FREN 102 is a continuation of the fundamentals of French grammar course. Students continue to improve their pronunciation and evaluate more complex elementary texts. The focus is on oral speech as students learn how to use verbs and idioms correctly and implement effective vocabulary-building techniques. A more in-depth analysis of French culture is also available. Lecture time is 5 hours.
Through the study of French and Francophone cultures, FREN 103 focuses on the continued growth of language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Simple poems, literary texts, cinema, and music are presented to students. Awareness of contemporary French and Francophone society and culture is obtained. It is expected that you have a basic understanding of the language. This course is delivered entirely in French. Lecture time is 5 hours.
