How to read olds casting #s

I’m not sure what year or model this motor is, but I know it’s an Oldsmobile. The oil filler code is 1291091, and the block cast says 395558 2. Heads 7 front closer to core support, then between 1st and 2nd plug “CFD,” then top directly under valve cover “409,” and last 147. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
So the block’s filler is worng because the block says 395558-2 68-70 block and the filler says 1291091 which means it’s a 71 block or tube. So, does a 71 filler tube suit without causing any issues in the block? I have a second block with the same code as the first, 395558-2, and the filler tube says 9474371 with #5 heads. I’m still a little perplexed. Specifically, the filler tubes. Thank you once more.
Filler tubes are quickly replaced and should not be used to date and label the engine block. In reality, a large block filler tube can be used in a small block and vice versa; don’t rely on it solely for block identification. Use the number on the block as directed. Heads are often simple to replace. Due to the hardened valve inserts, it’s possible that someone installed a later head on the block. Don’t be worried about the filler tube’s compatibility with the engine. They’re all the same, and they’re all crammed into the same block. They’re simple to take out and replace. They can usually be removed by wrapping a rag around them and twist-pulling with wide channel locks. With a rubber mallet, pound them in. The 5 heads have a CID of 350 and a 64cc displacement of 68-69. Chevy engine block numbers location

I’ve got an olds 403. The casting number for the block in back of the water pump is 557265 4Bi, and it says 4A on my clyinder heads. I’ve looked at a few websites and am totally perplexed. Because of the 4A and 4B discrepancy, I’d like to know what year the engine is and whether the cylinder heads match the year of the block. I’m not familiar with the casting numbers for old engines. Thank you very much, boys!
Your casting number indicates a 77-79 block, and the head has a 4A stamp, which is correct for 77-79 403. I’m not positive, but I assume the 4a is the only head on the 403. By decoding the date codes, you can calculate the date of manufacture for the head and block, but your block and head combination is right for the 77-79 403.
SirLDragon’s quote from July 16, 2008, 01:09:26 The 4A heads are the only ones available for the 403. AMBob is right. They do not, however, have a date code. This can, however, help with the block. fantastic! Larry, thank you so much. – Rob is a man of many talents.
On the 403, where are the date codes? I haven’t been able to locate them. On chevys, they’re on the back of the block, just above where the transmission mounts, next to the casting number. On my 403, I can’t see anything back there.
