Overcrowding at Stein Elementary prompted the Jeffco School Board to approve a new proposal to combine Alameda High School and O’Connell Middle School, with Stein Elementary moving to the O’Connell building. Over the summer, the strategy will be implemented.
In addition to fixing Stein’s overcrowding, which principal Samantha Salazar estimates to be about 164 percent space, the $1.1 million initiative would merge Alameda’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program with O’Connell’s IB Middle Years program.

I enjoy advising and advocating for middle school students as they grow academically, socially, and physically over the course of three years. I believe that all students deserve the chance to succeed, that they can succeed in a positive learning environment, and that they should have fun at school every day. This is possible for our students because of our emphasis on Personalized Learning.
All students need personalized, interactive learning experiences that place the child at the core of their own learning. This helps all children to continue to evolve as critical thinkers, communicators, partners, designers, and contributors in order to contribute meaningfully to society.
Rutgers College in New Jersey awarded me a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and English. Sul Ross University in Texas awarded me a Master of Business Administration, and George Mason University awarded me a Master of Education Leadership.
