(Newburyport, MA) According to Kevin Sheridan, the Newburyport girls soccer coach, “if we had to play with our shoes tied together, we definitely would have.” And that pretty much summed up the mood of today’s attendees. Whatever it takes to have a nice time! North Reading coach Sean Killeen said, “We were all glad to be playing.” “The Cape Ann League and the principals did an excellent job making it possible for the kids.” Pre-game, I spoke with both officials…
(Newburyport, Massachusetts) Brian Heffernan, the Hornets’ starting quarterback, was out with a sore back. In just three games, he has thrown ten touchdown passes. Not to worry, sophomore fill-in Ryan McCullough was more than capable, and North Reading remained unbeaten with a 28-14 victory over Newburyport on Friday night in the Cape Ann League. After the game, NR coach Ed Blum said, “We had to simplify things.” “He (Ryan) hasn’t had a lot of QB reps, but he’s an athlete, and…
(Newburyport, Massachusetts) This afternoon, the Newburyport Clippers girls soccer team looked fantastic. Perhaps it was the pre-game chatter. “We spoke about how big this one was before the game,” senior Molly Elmore explained. “We decided to have a winning season and turn our season around.” NHS coach Kevin Sheridan said, “It was our best game of the season.” “Today all fell into place. I’m extremely happy with them.” The Clippers scored two goals in the first hour…

Divide the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers to get the student/teacher ratio. Please keep in mind that a lower student-to-teacher ratio does not always imply a smaller class size. Schools occasionally employ part-time teachers, and some teachers are hired for specialized teaching with limited class sizes. The student-to-teacher ratio is determined by these and other factors. Pre-Kindergarten may not be included of the student/teacher ratio in private schools.

The secondary schools building committee and the residents of North Reading voted in 2012 to begin the construction of a combined high school/middle school facility with overwhelming support. Construction on the new school started in the fall of that year, thanks to state and local support.
Just above and behind the 1955 high school building, the foundation started to take shape. The first phase of construction was finished in fall 2014, with the new high school building coming into use and the old high school building down the hill acting as a temporary home for middle school students for one more year. During the 2014-2015 academic year, the old middle school building adjacent to the newly built high school was fully renovated.
