New England Cable News (NECN) is a regional 24-hour cable news television network serving the New England region of the United States, owned and operated by NBCUniversal (as part of the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division, both eventually owned by Comcast). It focuses on regional news, with paid programming and WNBC programming such as Talk Stoop and Open House airing in low-priority timeslots.
The NBCU Boston Media Center on B Street in Needham is home to NECN, as well as NBC owned and operated WBTS-CD (channel 15), Telemundo O&O WNEU (channel 60), and NBC Sports Boston. Manchester, New Hampshire; Hartford, Connecticut; Worcester, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; Providence, Rhode Island; and Burlington, Vermont are among the news bureaus run by NECN in New England.
In the television studio of Suffolk University in downtown Boston, New England Cable News retains a remote camera. New England Cable News broadcasts to 3.7 million homes in New England and produces many original shows.

New England Cable News is searching for a reporter to add to its daily news shows. The ideal candidate would be proactive in creating content for breaking news and regular stories across various channels, as well as understanding and using all available software. Work with news managers, assignment editors, and producers to define and conduct news content, report on coverage status to management, and develop a network of contacts and sources in New Hampshire.
• Contribute story ideas for big series and lead articles for daily news shows. For news material, conduct research and write scripts. For on-air content, pick video and organize the editing and graphic design output.
• Cultivate relationships with members of the community and community leaders in order to develop links with story leads. For news stories, establish and cultivate connections within the media. Support and collaborate with NBC News, Newschannel, and other local media outlets.

NBC asked us to help them create and advance the look and feel of NECN (New England Cable News), a 24-hour regional television network, after seeing our work on a Cooking Channel rebrand. Morning and evening opens, generic opens – breaking news and weather, franchise opens, bumps, transitions, First Warning Weather mini-open, and station IDs were among the deliverables. Plan your journey With just a month and a half to work with, we began by looking at a look produced by Arthouse, the “NBC owned stations graphics center” in Dallas, and borrowing their tone and color notes. Making photography suggestions (as they will be updated on a regular basis) and toolkitting the new look for simple, everyday use were all part of the final look. This week, two pieces I wrote about competition were written. The first is “Competitions Inside Competitions: America’s Insatiable Appetite,” which is part of my ongoing blog on children, competitiveness, and popular culture at Psychology Today. The article focuses on the rise of yet more rivalry in reality television shows, where celebrities form teams and battle for the glory of victory on behalf of the team leader.
I’ve recently appeared on both TV and radio to discuss rivalry. I talked about the connections between bullying and rivalry on the Larry Fedoruk Show on NewsTalk 610 in Canada. You can listen to it by going HERE.
Finally, on NECN’s The Morning Show, another debate about youth culture and competitiveness focused on how college graduates should handle the highly competitive job market after graduation.
