To allow students to create a “marketable” product using minerals that are used by the majority of people on a daily basis. Calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, the abrasive and cleansing compounds in toothpaste, are both minerals.
The aim of this activity is to give the player an overview of mining economics. Each player purchases “land,” then buys “mining equipment,” pays for the “mining activity,” and then pays for “reclamation.” In exchange, the player is paid for the “ore extracted.” The aim of the game is to expand the mine while still protecting the environment and earning as much money as possible.
What does it mean when water is referred to as a natural resource? Is water a non-renewable resource? After we use water, what happens to it? This investigation will assist you in determining how much water you need in your home and how to avoid wasting it. If there are a lot of people involved in this investigation, operate in small groups of 3-5 people. Consider all of the ways water is used in your home before you begin. How much water do you and your family use on a daily basis at home? Make a mental note of your feelings and share them with others. Make a list that includes everyone’s water use at home.
