Spring 2021 convocation

First and second year engineering program classes, such as math, physics, chemistry, humanities/social science electives, non-school 14 tech electives, and sophomore level introductory major courses, are able to be taken outside of RU during the summer. Taking two math courses in one summer is not recommended, particularly for students who are struggling academically. These cases are reviewed by Deans in the Office of Academic Services (B100). Significant courses at the junior and senior levels may not be taken outside of RU unless the Undergraduate Director of the engineering department has given permission. Non-STEM and non-Writing classes, such as general electives and humanities/social science electives, are required to be taken outside of RU during the winter sessions.

Taking classes at a community college is much less difficult than taking classes at a four-year university. If you have the opportunity to take a class at your local community college during the winter or summer session, you should take advantage of it! Public Speaking is offered at Middlesex County College during the regular semester, as well as in the winter and summer sessions. Public speaking is the best class for you if you are a full-time student at Middlesex and want to take it during the main semesters of spring and fall, or if you attend another university and only want a nice and simple class to take during the summer or winter sessions. It will also move to several other schools as a communication class, which will be extremely beneficial to have credits for!
If you are a full-time or part-time student at Middlesex, taking this course during the winter session would be most useful, based on personal experience and word of mouth. At this session, the class will be completed in the shortest amount of time possible, with the least amount of busy work possible, and all of the tasks will need to be completed within the allotted time. During this winter session, there will be just four speeches to deliver, and the majority of the days will be spent sitting and listening to the other students. This class is more of a home study course, but it is not difficult to prepare for. Being able to take this course during the winter semester, when it is only 14 days long, would allow you to complete the credits as quickly as possible.
