Internships and field studies are vital components of your career planning.
Liberal arts transfer associate degree
You apply the theory and skills you’ve gained in the classroom through hands-on learning in a professional environment while you participate in an internship or field research. You have a rare opportunity to learn about yourself, your customers, your organisations, and your world while working under the supervision of an accomplished professional. Site managers act as role models, leading you so that you can learn and engage in the organization’s work. Faculty supervisors ensure that your internship or field research benefits both you and your community partners, and that it develops the conceptual and practical skills needed for future public service success. They also support you with the activities that help you make sense of your experience, such as meditation.
“My field research with the Smithsonian helped me apply what I learned in class to real-life situations and gain a deeper understanding of my chosen field. The contacts I made are already assisting me in getting a foot in the door as I begin my career, and the experience has strengthened my faith in my career goals.” Melissa Velez Nazario is a member of the 2020 class.
