Medfield is a town in the United States of America’s Norfolk County. According to the 2010 Census, the population is 12,024 people. It’s a 17-mile-southwest of Boston, Massachusetts, and a 40-minute drive from the city’s financial district. The Hinkley Pond and the Peak House are two of the area’s attractions.
At the time of settlement, the land that Medfield now occupies was Neponset land. After the English seized the Native Americans’ land by force and contaminated them with a number of diseases, the Neponset chief Chickatabot sold it to William Pynchon in the late 1620s. Chickatabot, on the other hand, died in a smallpox outbreak that wiped out the neighboring Neponset, Narragansett, and Pequot villages in 1633. The Massachusetts General Court directed “all Indians who were present when Chickatabot sold lands to Mr. Pynchon, or who know where they were, to set out the bounds thereof” since there was no written deed. Fifty years later, Chickatabot’s grandson Josias Wampatuck filed a land claim against Medfield and the other towns established within the Chickatabot purchase’s borders, for which he was compensated. Dedham was the first town to arise from those lands. 1st
