According to the State Bar of New Mexico’s 2017 Demographics survey, the bar membership numbered 10,004 that year. Males made up the bulk of bar patrons in New Mexico (59.1%). The average size of a law firm for most bar members was two to four attorneys. Albuquerque had 32 percent of the bar owners, with Santa Fe coming in second with 11 percent. The majority of bar members (4085) were baby boomers (ages 46 to 62), followed by Generation Xers (ages 29 to 45), who accounted for 2422 bar members. The New Mexico Board of Bar Examiners has not ruled that you must have a certain level of undergraduate education before earning your Juris Doctor (JD) and taking the state bar exam. However, if you want to apply to an American Bar Association-approved law school after finishing undergraduate school, you must first earn a bachelor’s degree.
All undergraduate schools from which you earn degrees must be approved by a reputable organization recognized by the US Department of Education. If you want to go to an ABA-approved law school after graduation, you’ll need this accreditation.

The method of obtaining a license to practice law in Mexico appears simple at first glance. A student starts the Licenciatura en Derecho at a National Education System institution after graduating from high school. There, the student completes the requisite coursework, meets the institution’s graduation standards, and receives a diploma. After that, the student registers his diploma with the General Office for Professional Practice and receives a professional license (cédula profesional) that enables him to practice law anywhere in the world.
Depending on the organisation, each move may have minor variations. As a result, we’ll go over each one individually to clarify any differences. Students apply to Texas Law and complete the normal admissions process. Students who are interested in participating in the Program should apply to Texas Law after starting their studies at UT. Involved students will apply to participate in the Program in the spring of their first academic year at Texas Law. A résumé, a transcript of previous research, a statement outlining educational history, goals, and reasons for choosing to participate in the Program, and a letter of recommendation from a Texas Law faculty member will be included in the application. Interviews and/or written exams can be used to assess fluency and suitability for the program. To allow for adequate planning and training, choices will be revealed before the start of students’ second academic year.”
Texas Law students can send an individual application to ITAM once they have been accepted into the program. This application will contain a copy of your high school transcripts as well as the LSAT scores you submitted when you were admitted to Texas Law School. Applicants must be fluent in Spanish, both written and orally, despite the fact that no Spanish language proficiency exam is required. Students will begin their second academic year at Texas Law if they are approved by ITAM, after which they will be able to begin taking classes at ITAM.
