Living & learning in student housing at indiana university

Hello, I’ve done a lot of research on the KLLC and believe it’s a wonderful opportunity to network as early as freshmen year. I have not yet committed to Indiana University and am awaiting the outcome of some other decisions. The deadline for KLLC priority consideration is May 1, and the application opens tomorrow. Will the time of submission matter if I submit now rather than in mid-April?
D.G. How did your friend respond to the KLLC? On this site, I’ve seen a lot of mixed feedback. Some people seemed to find it beneficial, while others thought it was a little too closed off. My son is debating whether or not to apply, because we don’t have any firsthand knowledge because we are OOS and not many kids go to IU, let alone Kelley. Any suggestions for tradeoffs will be greatly appreciated.
Any time a student has the ability to participate in an LC, I believe it is beneficial. Some friends with children at IU, on the other hand, claim that the KLLC is too insular and suggest regular housing to establish a social network outside of Kelley. Given Kelley’s high enrollment, this makes a lot of sense to me. They would have no trouble making friends inside their major/school in the long run.

You’ll find the McNutt Quadrangle, which houses the Kelley Living Learning Center, if you walk past Hodge Hall and up Fee Road. This group of over 500 students is made up of ten floors of McNutt, where students take identical courses, attend events with prominent business leaders, and navigate freshman year together. The KLLC has a “work hard, play hard” mentality, which attracts a fantastic group of students. Since it is a living-learning center, the individual floors seem to have a good sense of camaraderie. Each floor develops its own personality, which can affect how people view you if they only know which floor you live on. As new blood circulates across the KLLC, these personas shift year to year, and the directors strive to balance residents’ personalities and build optimistic and close-knit floors. So, without further ado, here’s a fully objective and unbiased rundown of the KLLC’s various floors:
Simply GO OUTSIDE and embrace nature if you are feeling down and nervous! According to a recent study published in Frontiers in Psychology, children who are related to nature and have physical contact with animals and flowers are happier and more altruistic in nature. Nature is not only a bountiful force for adults, but it is also a therapeutic antidote for children, especially during their developmental years.

Despite the fact that the KLLC has a reputation for being a more scholarly floor than the rest of McNutt, the residents are very friendly and enjoy going out. However, you will note that there is a good balance between those who party and those who do not.
The floor can be busy at night on weekends and even on weekdays (Quiet Hours are more of a suggested rule than an enforced one). If this bothers you, I recommend investing in earplugs, which will greatly assist you in getting a good night’s sleep.
There are several similarities between the KLLC and the rest of McNutt. However, you won’t get the amazing opportunities that the KLLC provides to its tenants if you live somewhere else on campus. I was networking with recruiters from the Big 4 accounting firms from day one (literally move-in day), attending professional development series, and making some great friends.
What exactly is a “Hoosier?” Many people have thought about this issue for years, and many have attempted to address it, but only a few have succeeded. There is no single right answer to the concept of ‘Hoosier,’ unlike in math class. Rather than attempting to clarify what I believe a “Hoosier” is, I have gathered some rather fascinating theories and historical facts about the term “Hoosier,” in the hopes that my findings will shed some light on this never-ending debate.
