All students should complete at least one internship during their college career, according to the Department of Journalism. Internships are a wonderful way to learn about an industry, gain work experience, publish work, and network with professionals. If your internship is not a certified internship, you must complete a JOUR 617 Required Internship Proposal form before enrolling.
Please have your internship supervisor email the Journalism Department Internship Acceptance Form (DOCX) to the department chair if you have secured an internship with one of the above organizations. This form must be signed before the add deadline.
Please see the forms to the right of this page for more information. Our faculty may use the internship proposal to make an impartial assessment of whether or not an internship qualifies for credit. If we discover that it does not, students will be able to complete the internship for academic credit (Jour 699 Independent Study), but it will not count against graduation.
