Embedded videos are not supported by your browser. They said Jordan Brand was no longer alive. They said that Yeezy jumped over the Jumpman. They were all wrong in 2016, as it turned out. Jordan Brand pulled out all the stops this year. The brand catered to everyone’s needs and produced enough merchandise to satisfy the general public. The “Space Jam” XIs, “Black/Red” 1s, and “White/Cement IVs” were all re-released this year. And that’s just a taste of the poison that’s been released in the last 12 months.
Aside from all of Jordan Brand’s retro releases in 2016, there was one that was particularly noteworthy: the XXX1, the best new Air Jordan model in a long time. It not only demonstrated that the company could create sneakers that gave us goosebumps, but it also demonstrated that they were committed to making basketball sneakers cool again. Will the current pattern continue in 2017? We’ll have to wait and see, but 2016 was a fantastic year for Air Jordans, and here are the best from the year.

The “Chicago” was released alongside other great Air Jordan 1 releases in 2015, including the original “Carolina” and the all-new “Shattered Backboard” colorways.

For the first 80 years or so of the twentieth century, shoes were just shoes. Nike then launched a pair of basketball shoes featuring an ex-Tarheel in the mid-1980s. The Air Jordan was created, and the rest is history, as they say. According to tradition, the famous Air Jordan sneaker series almost never took off. The NBA stepped in shortly after Michael Jordan unveiled the Air Jordan I and banned the shoe due to its “non-regulation” colors. To say the least, Jordan did not listen, and thus started the great basketball shoe boom. Here’s a look at each and every pair of Nike Air Jordan shoes that have been released so far, a total of 35. (not counting the many colorways and retro variations). Each pair is labeled with the shoe’s motto (if any) and the year it was published. Nike has a variety of famous Air Jordan editions. Nike also makes shoes for NBA stars Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant. Jordan fans have a slew of other collectibles to look for in addition to the shoes.
