We’ll be in Boston on Friday. Is there somewhere we can park for free or for a low fee if we arrive at Alewife Station about 10 a.m.? If required, we are willing to walk up to 1/2 mile to the station.
You could park in the Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s parking lots and fear the whole time that your car will be towed. If you return to find it gone, you’ll have to pay a towing charge of $60+ plus the fine to get it back. Yeah, and you’ll also have to pay for a taxi to get to the tow yard… That is the truth of “free” parking, which is extremely costly.
Thank you all so much. Of course, we are willing to pay such a fee, but we were concerned that if we arrived at 10 a.m. on a weekday, the garage would already be packed, which is why we sought additional advice. We’re hoping to be able to park and ride…

Riding the red line t subway from alewife station

This nonsmoking house, situated 1.9 miles from downtown Boston and close to Harvard University, offers both contemporary and Victorian-style accommodations, as well as a range of modern amenities.
For a very fair price, the Cambridge House Inn offers beauty, charm, and a friendly atmosphere. The old-fashioned Victorian home is furnished with period pieces and features a lovely seating area with two fireplaces (ideal for the cold weather), a delicious breakfast menu, tastefully arranged quarters, and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. It’s just a short distance to the Porter Square or Davis subway stations. We’ll certainly return!
I was greeted with a warm welcome and had a nice and secure stay. The area had a very pleasant atmosphere, with numerous coffee shops and other establishments. Getting there was also a success. From the airport, I took the Silver Line to South Station, then the Red Line to Davis Square – the whole trip was free 🙂
Cristina and Steven were friendly and considerate of our needs. They were fun and knowledgeable, and we exchanged several travel stories because they were seasoned travelers. Breakfast was simple, consisting of good coffee and juice, fruit, yogurt, fresh breads and pastries, and cereals, and was shared with the hosts and other guests around a table in the guest kitchen. The B&B is on a quiet street just a few blocks from the Davis Square subway station and Elm Street, which is bustling with restaurants and shops. On this private, one-way lane, parking was easy and safe.
