The Fifth Edition of From Neuron to Brain offers a readable, up-to-date book for undergraduate, graduate, and medical school neuroscience courses. The focus is on electrical recordings, molecular and cellular biological methods, and behavioral research on the nervous system, from basic reflexes to cognitive functions, as in previous editions. Hospital and a Ph.D. in physiology from University College London’s Department of Biophysics, where he conducted research under Sir Bernard Katz’s supervision. He has worked at the University College London, Oxford, Harvard, Yale, and Stanford Universities, as well as the Basel Biocenter. He conducted experiments on neuroglial cells with Stephen Kuffler and co-authored the first edition of this book. He is a Royal Society Fellow, a member of the Mexican Academy of Medicine, and a Venezuelan Order of Andres Bello recipient. He has taught neurobiology laboratory and lecture courses at Woods Hole and Cold Spring Harbor, as well as universities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
