East Bridgewater Jr./Sr. High School is a public secondary school in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, United States, located at 143 Plymouth Street. The school serves students in grades 7–12 and has a student population of about 1000. Navy, Gold, and White are the school’s colors, and the school’s former campus opened in 1958. In 1975, a major building expansion program doubled the school’s enrollment capacity while providing comprehensive academic support and athletic facilities. The school now has about 1000 students in grades 7–12, which represents modest growth in recent years.
In the fall of 2013, a new junior/senior high school opened. The modern, cutting-edge school is built on the site of the old athletic fields and tennis courts. On the site of the original structure, new fields were built. (5)
The governing school district, East Bridgewater Public Schools, introduced a budget in the spring of 2015 that would have removed all extracurricular activities, including all sports teams and music ensembles, as well as all non-essential programs. Students opposed the budget, and a few students in particular took part in the creation of Necessary Extras, a short film that served as a forum for students concerned about the school’s future. To better finance the activities, the school’s budget was overturned, and the teachers gave up their annual union pay increase.
