How to write the word love in a simple but cool way
Regular readers of this blog may have noted that my name is spelled Jonathon rather than Jonathan. If you’ve ever thought of making a joke about my parents misspelling my name, please don’t. I’ve heard that joke for over thirty years, and I can tell you that it wasn’t funny the first time I heard it.
In certain ways, though, the jokers are right. I was named after an Old Testament figure (Saul’s son and David’s friend) whose name is usually rendered Jonathan in English Bible translations. My parents assumed the -on spelling was normal, so they used it on my birth certificate. But I prefer the way my name is pronounced, and it is, after all, a legal version. It has been around since at least the 1940s or 1950s, according to the NameVoyager on Baby Name Wizard, but it has never surpassed Jonathan in popularity. I’ve been asked if my uncommon spelling of my name led to my decision to become an editor because I had to pay special attention to the spelling, but I don’t believe this is the case. However, it makes for a good story.

‘Johnathon,’ like the spelling of his name, is totally original. He’s actually too amazing to match the typical spelling, just as he’s too awesome to fit the traditional definition of usual in his attitude and style. He’s tall, handsome, and a complete tank who dresses in op shop clothes and looks great in them. He is a basketball player who loves listening to bands that other people have never heard of. He’s optimistic, cheerful, hilarious, and a lot of fun, and he has the oddest laugh I’ve ever heard. He’s the most caring person I’ve ever met, and he really cares for others. He sees people in a unique way, looking beyond the surface to the brokenness underneath, then seeing beyond that to beauty, beauty that the individual can’t see in themselves. He makes people feel unique and encourages them to achieve their goals. He’s difficult to forget. ‘Do you think Johnathon is aware of how incredible he is?’ Submitted by just me:) 14th of December, 2012566197

Why do people with the same name spell it differently
The Hebrew name (Yehonatan), contracted to (Yonatan), means “YAHWEH has given,” and is derived from the roots (yeho), which refers to the Hebrew God, and (natan), which means “to offer.” Jonathan was Saul’s eldest son, according to the Old Testament. Owing to his close friendship with his father’s competitor David, his relationship with his father was strained. He was killed in combat with the Philistines alongside Saul. Jonathan did not become common in England until after the Protestant Reformation. Jonathan Swift (1667-1745), an Anglo-Irish satirist who wrote Gulliver’s Travels and other works, was a popular bearer.

Jonathan was derived from the Hebrew name Yehonatan, which was ultimately shortened to Yonatan, which means “gift of Jehovah.” It is made up of the words yeho, which means “God,” and natan, which means “to give.” Jonathan was King Saul’s valiant eldest son, and it was his relationship with his brother-in-law David that gave rise to the word “Jonathan and David” to denote faithful, steadfast friends in the Old Testament.
Jonathan is a biblical name that began to replace the conventional John in the late 1950s, sounding more playful, sensitive, and contemporary. Jonathan has lost a lot of his luster since being at the top of the list for decades.
