The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts has announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art production studio and teaching space focused on the 5088 Discrete Analogue Mixer, which will be located off campus in the Gramercy neighborhood of New York City. The Clive Davis Institute announced plans to extend and increase enrollment in the spring of last year. The new studio will help satisfy the need for more space as more students enroll.
The Clive David Institute of Recorded Music’s chair, Jeffrey Rabhan, said, “This extension marks our contribution to development studies and allows for our continued growth in the arts sector.” “Providing the best services and resources for our students is an important part of our role here at the Institute.”
The 600-square-foot studio, which includes a Live Room and Control Room, will be used as a new mix/overdub and teaching space. It has a 16-channel Rupert Neve Designs 5088 discrete analog mixing console, as well as eight Portico 5032 Mic Pre/Equalizer and eight Portico 5033 5-Band EQ modules in the penthouse portion of the console. dB Sound Design’s Jeff DelBello supervised the design and provided and installed the audio equipment in the room. CHBO Inc.’s Chris Bowman provided acoustic treatment for the room.

One of our greatest misconceptions going into the visit was that the school was primarily devoted to the creation of artists; we couldn’t have been more incorrect. The school’s aim, on the other hand, is to grow young entrepreneurs who will make a name for themselves in various aspects of the music industry. This means that the school aims to develop everything from potential CEOs to journalists to a variety of executive roles in the music industry and beyond, in addition to musicians, writers, producers, and engineers. It is the most challenging school to get into at NYU, with just 48 students accepted each year. It also makes the experience entirely hands-on and personalized to the current students’ benefit.
The NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music has its own dedicated space on campus in lower Manhattan. Even though it only takes up one floor in a multi-facility building, it is not short on money. The most critical aspect of the academy, aside from the state-of-the-art recording studios, classrooms, and laboratories, is the teachers, who bring real-world experiences to the classroom. From entertainment attorneys to artist managers, label owners, engineers, and even some musicians, we’re talking about it all. The courses are organized around case studies so that students can have a firsthand look at what the industry is all about. Music supervision and soundtrack formation, writing the hit single, the fundamentals of branding, and an introduction to the music industry are just a few of the classes available. Ryan Leslie and Swizz Beatz, respectively, have worked as artist and producer in residence, and?uestlove will be teaching a Prince course this season. There’s even a Jay-Z class. Learning opportunities are limitless, and they often change in response to market trends.

The Clive Davis Institute aspires to equip students with the requisite business, artistic, and analytical skills to help them become innovative creative entrepreneurs in the rapidly changing music industry.
Students are encouraged to come up with new musical concepts and imagine new music business models, collaborate, foster both academic rigor and an artistic ability to experiment, and take on leadership positions in the art and commerce of making and selling recorded music.
This introductory course is designed for students who have a deep sense of personal intent and want to use music to change the world. Students will learn about social entrepreneurs, including how they think, the challenges they solve, the business tools they use, and the tactics they use to affect social change in this course.
Students explore current problems, opportunities, and challenges that social entrepreneurs and their projects face through readings, participatory class discussions, class events, self-reflection, and occasional guest speakers. They also gain expertise, practical tools, and strategies to help them further their social change agenda now and in the future. Finally, the purpose is to encourage and empower students to bring their social change ideas into action and begin manifesting the change they want to see in the world.
