One thing to bear in mind is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to preparing a CLASS score report. Some organizations may opt to use the Scoring Summary Sheet found on the last page of the CLASS score sheet booklet, while others may create their own report, which may include a written narrative or a review of a classroom’s scores over time or against the total scores of the program. Score reports can vary greatly since each company has its own priorities and protocols. As a result, if you have any concerns about a particular survey, we recommend that you contact the observer who performed the observation or the organization that produced the report.
Low range (codes 1 & 2) indicates that the observed interactions are ineffective. Effective interactions were few and far between, and when they did occur, they were isolated, brief, and of poor quality.
Numerical scores may be combined to find domain-level scores, which help to pinpoint the level of effectiveness found in the classroom for a specific dimension. For an example, see the sample Scoring Summary Sheet in Chapter 2 of the manual.

CLASS® is a versatile tool that focuses on what makes great teaching great: the teacher-student interactions that have been shown to drive learning and growth. Children in classrooms with more effective teacher-student interactions, as calculated by CLASS, have improved social and academic results, according to over 200 research studies. For one basic purpose, CLASS is included in 23 states’ QRIS measures: it works.
Teachers will enhance their interactions with children every day with the right resources, according to research, by cultivating supportive, organized, and interactive classroom environments across the CLASS domains. We’ve created tools to assist in collaboration with Teachstone, the experts who created the CLASS.
We’ve found a pattern after 20 years of observing teacher-child interactions. On the instructional support domain, teachers have the lowest ranking. The Instructional Support Kit offers teachers CLASS-based recommendations about how to use resources in their classroom that are matched to pattern-related developmental results in mathematics. It also assists teachers in the growth of their students’ reasoning and language skills.
