Students are guided through the writing assignments by the informative writing assignment sheets. The first task is to articulate personal viewpoints. Persuade is the second writing assignment. Students are expected to play the part of a tribe member and convince the others to help Mafatu resolve his fear. The third writing task is to provide information. Students write a survival manual from Mafatu’s perspective to share with members of his tribe and those on other islands.
