The official Port Authority transportation from the Amtrak station to JFK is the NYC Airporter Shuttle. Every 30 minutes, shuttle vans pick up passengers near the Sbarro restaurant on the corner of 33rd Street and 7th Avenue and transport them to Grand Central Station for transfer to an express bus. Allow 90 minutes for your commute.
Move to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) for a 24-minute trip to the Jamaica Station after arriving at Penn Station through Amtrak. Either the Babylon, Port Jefferson, or Ronkonkoma lines are available. Check fares for your departure date and time, and make sure to buy your ticket before boarding the train to save money. If you purchase your ticket at Penn Station or via the MTA eTix app, your fare would be less than $15.
If you want to save money, the subway is the best choice. Otherwise, take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft car if traffic isn’t too terrible and money isn’t a problem. Use the LIRR if you want a similar commuting time to driving but without the cost.
