It is well recognized that the standard of education offered by public schools differs significantly from one school district to the next, as well as from one city to the next. Furthermore, within any city or area, the standard of a child’s education can differ significantly from neighborhood to neighborhood.

Our school is unique in that it is a joint project between Boston Public Schools and community-based agencies to support students with special needs who need a non-traditional learning approach.
ABCD University High, EDCO Youth, William J. Ostiguy High, LogOn Academy, St. Mary’s Alternative School, and College Bound Middle School are among the six community-based educational programs that make up BCHS.
The results of the Next Generation MCAS are used to show student performance data.

LogOn Academy, Otro Camino, “Another Path” for recent immigrants, and St. Mary’s, for expectant and parenting young women, represent 86 students, ages 16 to 21, who are enrolled in three different Alternative Education Programs within BPS: LogOn Academy, Otro Camino, “Another Path” for recent immigrants, and St. Mary’s, for expectant and parenting young women. UP Academy’s basement in South Boston has recently been assigned to the school.
To meet the needs of its students, BCHS employs a mix of hybrid, online, project-based, and conventional instructional methods. The school holds graduations three times a year because everyone is working for their own academic goals, and some only need a few credits. Although there is no art or music at Excel High, students can participate in sports and other specialization classes.
Each Alternative Education Program has its own room, with four teachers rotating through each community. Josh Katzman, a humanities teacher at Otro Camino, starts the day with a restorative circle in which students express their thoughts and feelings on a range of topics using a talking object. Divide the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers to get the student/teacher ratio. Please keep in mind that a lower student-to-teacher ratio does not always imply a smaller class size. Schools occasionally employ part-time teachers, and some teachers are hired for specialized teaching with limited class sizes. The student-to-teacher ratio is influenced by these and other factors. Pre-Kindergarten may not be included of the student/teacher ratio in private schools.
