Blue Hills Regional Technical High School is a public high school in Canton, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston and the geographic hub of the Blue Hills Regional School District, which includes the towns of Avon, Braintree, Milton, Canton, Norwood, Randolph, Dedham, Westwood, and Holbrook. The school is located on a 35-acre (140,000-square-meter) campus that surrounds the DCR’s Blue Hills Reservation and has a view of Great Blue Hill. The Warriors are the school’s mascot.
On December 17, 1963, the Blue Hills Regional School District was formed to serve the citizens of the member towns. The towns then gave the District School Committee permission to create and retain educational programs at the secondary, post-secondary, and adult levels, in compliance with Chapter 74 of the Massachusetts General Laws, which mandates that all municipalities in the state provide vocational education to high school students who request it.
In September 1966, the first class of students entered the original school building. Its popularity, combined with rising admissions, necessitated the construction of new facilities. Furthermore, local employers expressed a desire for workers with specific skill sets. By 1976, the high school had been enlarged to accommodate nearly 1,230 students, with an additional 1,400 students enrolled in adult education programs.

Blue Hills Regional, which opened in 1966, provides excellent academic and career/technical training to students from its nine district towns (Avon, Braintree, Canton, Holbrook, Norwood, Randolph, and Westwood were the initial towns in the District; Dedham and Milton joined in 1987). Our graduates are prepared to enter the workforce, attend a postsecondary school, or join the military after graduation.
The academic departments have devised a balanced, sequential, and well-planned curriculum to meet the needs and objectives of a diverse student population. Students who want to attend college will find a rigorous program that will prepare them for entry to the most prestigious universities. Other course standards ensure that students complete a comprehensive curriculum that provides them with a sound foundation in their chosen vocational/technical sector. At Blue Hills, both students spend half of their time enrolled in a technical program. All programs provide technology and related courses conducted in a classroom that provide theoretical knowledge and context required for a deeper understanding of the operations and functions of the technical program, in addition to the hands-on education that takes place in the technical area or laboratory. Students can select from sixteen excellent technical programs at Blue Hills.
