Angier is a fantastic institution! We are very fortunate to have our children with us. Our children have never had fewer than two teachers assigned to their class, and there have been a few years where there were three or more instructors/aides, which makes a big difference in the kids’ ability to learn effectively. At Angier, we place a heavy emphasis on social emotional learning, and we’ve seen the benefits of this approach. Angier is incredible!!
Divide the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers to get the student/teacher ratio. Please keep in mind that a lower student-to-teacher ratio does not always imply a smaller class size. Schools occasionally employ part-time teachers, and some teachers are hired for specialized teaching with limited class sizes. The student-to-teacher ratio is influenced by these and other factors. Pre-Kindergarten may not be included of the student/teacher ratio in private schools.

The Angier School was Newton’s oldest school building still in use, but it couldn’t support the school curriculum and had major maintenance issues. On the difficult 1.97-acre site, DiNisco created a groundbreaking design for new construction.
A plaza serves as both an outdoor morning meeting area and a classroom at the new campus. It’s also a nicely landscaped interface with a barrier between it and the public street. Separate areas for buses, cars, and pedestrians exist in drop-off zones and pedestrian access.
The architecture of the building is compact and effective while still being gracious, with good views and solar orientation. The administration area is located near the front door, in the heart of the school’s activities. The cafeteria is connected to the stage, the music room, and the outdoor play areas. On each of the upper floors, three grades are grouped together to maximize opportunities for teacher collaboration.
The fenestration and massing of the building are scaled correctly in relation to the street and its neighbors. The building’s overall aesthetic is appealing, conveying all of the best qualities of an educational and civic-minded facility.
