Agnes Scott College (Agnes Scott) is a Decatur, Georgia-based private women’s liberal arts college. Approximately 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students attend the institution. Agnes Scott is one of the Seven Sisters of the South and is a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA). (5) It also offers graduate programs that are co-ed.
Presbyterian minister Frank H. Gaines founded the college as Decatur Female Seminary in 1889. The name was changed to Agnes Scott Institute in 1890 to honor the mother of Col. George Washington Scott, the college’s main benefactor. In 1906, the name was changed again to Agnes Scott College, and it is still a women’s college today.
Agnes Scott is generally recognized as Georgia’s first regionally accredited higher education institution.

The campus, along with the South Candler Street-Agnes Scott College Historic District, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 27, 1994.
[eight] East College Ave., South McDonough St., S. Candler St., East Hill St., and East Davis St. are the limits of the historic district. It covers the entire campus as well as historic homes in the surrounding area. The city of Decatur has also named the campus as a historic district.

Over the years, children have brought teddy bears to the hospital with a variety of illnesses, including sore ears, upset stomachs, and a variety of other strange and wonderful ailments. This year, children’s appointments will be held virtually, and the children will be taught how to care for their sick teddy at home.
Sláinte Society is also organizing a drawing contest due to the limited space of this year’s virtual Teddy Bear Hospital. To be in with a chance of winning one of two €50 vouchers for Smyths Toy Shop, children are encouraged to submit a drawing of themselves and their teddies.

LGBT Community Groups: Agnes Scott College provides Safe Zone training to faculty and staff on an annual basis.
