Abington, according to the parent, did not evaluate her son correctly in all alleged areas of need. She was the one who had to draw Abington’s attention to her son’s various problems with reading, writing, concentration, and organization. She claims that the school’s assessment process is too lengthy, and that time is of the essence. In November 2003, she brought Student’s needs to Abington’s attention for the second time, but the Team didn’t meet until February 2004. The parent is unaware of the legislation and has no knowledge of special education. She admits that Abington told her of the need for a school neuropsychological evaluation before Parent had the right to an independent assessment in that field. Parent claims that Student did not need to be tested twice and that she did not want to wait any longer for an assessment. The individual who was recommended to her was able to complete the assessment quickly. Her son appeared to struggle in school despite the numerous school delays. Student was eventually put on a 504 plan after Parent took in his doctor’s report diagnosing him with Attention Deficit Disorder.
