An positive omen As compared to similar students in the state, students at this school are making more academic progress considering where they were last year. High test scores suggest that students have good academic abilities and that the school is encouraging academic progress better than most other schools.
There’s good news! This school’s test scores are significantly higher than the state average, indicating that the majority of students are performing at or above grade level. Parental advice Disparities between student groups may exist even in high-performing schools. Check the details in the Equity section below to see how well this school serves all of its students. Understand what your child’s on-track learning looks like and how you can help at home.
It’s worth taking a closer look at: This school’s disadvantaged students are performing around on par with other students in the state, but there may still be achievement gaps. Does this school have opportunities for all of its pupils, or does it exclude some? Schools that are effective know how to close the achievement gap.

The majority of our adult classes are held at Newton South High School and Newton North High School (floor plans are available here) (floor plan here). Our classes for children and teenagers are offered at a variety of Newton elementary and middle schools, as well as other sites. Remember to double-check your course’s place in the catalog.
A circular driveway at both schools allows for easy student drop-off and pick-up. Parking is available to NCE students and teachers in the schools’ parking lots. The main parking lot for Newton North is on Walnut Street, but it is also accessible from Elm Road off Lowell Avenue.
Coming from the north, take Centre Lane. Head south on Centre St. from the intersection of Centre St. and Beacon St. in Newton Center, fork left onto Cypress St., and almost immediately right onto Parker St. After crossing Route 9 (Boylston St.) after 0.8 mile, take the first LEFT turn onto Hagen Rd. after 0.1 mile. Right at the fork, take Great Meadow Rd (there’s a sign for the high school after this fork). Turn left onto Brandeis Rd., which dead-ends into Great Meadow Rd., and you’ll see the school’s many parking lots and the school building on the right. When you’re ready to go, return down Brandeis Rd., past Great Meadow Rd., and turn right at the “To Parker Street” sign.
